| First Position is a series of portraits of young male ballet dancers minutes before their auditions for a prestigious summer school. Their quest for a form of physical perfection requires a strength (physical and mental), commitment and dedication we are unused to seeing in boys of this age. The moments at which they are seen here is when they are at their most exposed and I have tried to capture this rare glimpse of fragility. |
